At the risk of getting trolled on here, I would like to throw out a few questions:
1) Are Logistics LAV's supposed to rep passengers?
No part of the in-game description is clear on this point. It says that the vehicle is designed to rep multiple infantry at once. Yet the dropsuit repping tool only locks onto one character at a time (the fact that it is useless is a different issue). In the old build, the "logi" LAV's repped your passengers. When these "new models" came out I thought the targeted repper would be in addition to the in-seat reppers, thus giving a dedicated driver the ability to assist infantry once they leave the car. But after using the new Logi LAV's for quite a while now I have yet so see my passengers receive any kind of repping benefits. I understand the caldari reps shields and the gallente reps armor and that neither is designed for both. My point is neither car seems to rep either one at a discernible rate.
2) Any plans to fix the remote repping tool or in-seat reppers?
Both are broken right now if you ask me. Obviously if the answer to my first question is "no passengers aren't supposed to get repped" than tthe only issue is the remote repper but in my humble opinion that makes it even more of an issue. Trying to target someone with the remote repper (dropsuit version) is an annoying proposition at the very best... First of all the 3-second delay to establish a lock on your target is garbage. Not only because the target is often dead by then, but also because trying to lock on while either the LAV or the target is moving is stupidly difficult. Secondly the additional 1-2 second delay that is caused by requiring you to lock-on to your target THEN activate the repping beam is equally silly. Can we not have this function more similarly to the hand-held rep tool? And what gives about the fact you can only rep one person at a time? What use is it to have a car that carries 2 people but can only support 1? How is it a good use of the user's resources to invest in this if they cannot have the option of supporting multiple targets? These limitations discourage the use of the Logi LAV as a team support tool and encourage its use as a solo killing machine.
And before anyone cries about it being OP at that point, you are the same people that would probably nerf the repping tools we already have and take Logi's out of the game entirely if you had your way so take it easy. I agree that as a "murder taxi" the car is probably a little stronger than it should be, but I don't see how that can possibly be considered a problem whilst the car's primary functions (logistics) are a joke. Every item needs to have some strengths and some weaknesses, not all weaknesses.
3) Any plans to fix the description of the vehicle?
It clearly states that the car is for supporting multiple infantry. But it does not. What gives? Are you planning to make it support multiple infantry simultaneously or not?
Suggestions?
- I am willing to sacrifice some speed/mobility (which would decrease the effectiveness of this car as a "murder taxi") if I get the ability to support at least half a squad while driving it. But decreasing the effective HP in any way (HP nerf, hardener nerf, CPU/PG nerf, etc) will make this car nothing but a waste of money. Because if you are going to drive it in the middle of a battle at close range for a prolonged period of time (all of which is required to rep people with it) the car needs to be able to withstand the punishment it's going to take.
- I would like the remote rep tools (shield and armor) to function similar to the Six Kin Triage/Core Repair Tool; multiple beams with less than 1 second lock-on/activation time.
- Furthermore, if you gave me the ability to get out of my car and rep my team mates without risking getting my car jacked, you don't have to fix anything else honestly. I have no doubt that it is a complicated process for you developers to code who can drive which LAV under specific circumstances or conditions. I can understand things like LAV lo-jack and remote-recall being too complicated. Perhaps you could explore some kind of "locked" mode? Give players the ability to toggle it on or off. If it is off anyone can drive it and if it is on than nobody can drive it but the person who called it in.
Bottom line, please do not nerf this car unless you plan to fix it's primary logistics functions. |
